BEFORE YOU START:
- Review the material found in the INFO tab and read the COURSE OUTLINE and the QUIK START GUIDE. Familiarize yourself with the important dates, course weightings, plagiarism policy, and my contact info!
- Then, proceed to the COURSE INTRODUCTION LESSON and complete the INTRODUCTORY ASSIGNMENT.
- Finally, proceed to the REVIEW OF SOCIAL STUDIES 20-2, before starting the Social Studies 30-2 course work. This section is mandatory and will be for marks.

DUE DATES
Social studies 30-2 is a comprehensive course and requires consistent, diligent work to complete in a timely manner. Please follow the recommended course pace I have outlined for you in Powerschool. You cannot afford to leave this course's work until the last minute. Keep on pace!

Diploma Review= January 7 to 11, 2021- FINAL DEADLINES

Understandings of Ideologies by Oxford Canada
- NOTE: If an assignment is not handed in after the due date has passed, you will receive a zero in Powerschool until you hand that assignment in.
- DOUBLE NOTE: Assignments are to be done on your own, not with the help of a friend or tutor. If you are having trouble, email me and I will offer the help! If your marks on assignments are dramatically higher than marks on tests, we will have to have a discussion about this.
- TRIPLE NOTE: You should be citing your research in MLA or APA format. Talk to me if you don't know how to do this.
- SUPER NOTE: Submit assignment files as Powerpoint (ppt), PDF or DOC. Do not submit ODF, PAGES, KEYNOTE, or others... I will make you resubmit/reupload if you do. This is due to what filetypes Moodle can actually interpret
ASSIGNMENT FEEDBACK & MY AVAILABILITY
Submitted assignments will be marked within 7 full days. Expect the turn-around to be 5-7 days.General written feedback will be given on Moodle for all assignments. - UNITS: This is where you will find Lessons and assignments for each module.
- GREEN LESSON BOOKS: Here you will find out what you are expected to learn. Each lesson book contains a plethora of lesson content, videos, and bonus information. Make sure you are viewing all of the pages contained within! Utilize the table of contents. Lessons appear as green books in the Unit tab.
- ASSIGNMENTS (60%): Your regular work will all be submitted online in their respective assignment links. For any writing assignments, please submit .PDF or .DOC files. For movie files please submit .MP4 or .AVI. For graphics/pictures, please submit .PNG or .JPG files. Your assignment links can be found in each unit tab.
- DISCUSSION POSTS (10%): Discussion posts are short tasks that will ask you to reflect on controversial issues in the course.
- UNIT TESTS AND QUIZZES (30%): These are multiple choice tests (closed book) that need to be completed while supervised. These are really difficult. Make sure you study well and review your vocabulary.

Democratic and Economic Equality In this unit you will explore the basic beliefs and values associated with liberal democracy. Liberal democracy is one form of liberalism that allows the people the right to elect other people to represent them in government. Should My Actions as a Citizen be Shaped by an Ideology? 
In this unit you will explore what it means to be a citizen of a liberal democracy. This citizenship includes rights and freedoms. Along with citizenship comes a responsibility to actively participate in the public life of society. Citizens in liberal democracies have to be constantly aware that governments can legislate limitations on their freedoms. Therefore, all citizens need to be active in their citizenship. -

In this unit, you will explore the extent to which your actions should be shaped by an ideology. You will do that by examining what individuals can do to improve the quality of life of others. Many individuals have single-handedly made a difference in the lives of many people locally, nationally, and around the world. They have increased awareness and raised money for causes that they deemed important. What can you do? -
