Project Introduction

In this training room, you learned more about workplace safety legislation. Now you will create a report to summarize workplace legislation for your specific work site.

In this project, you will create a reference document outlining the important safety legislation and how it protects you in your workplace.

Summative Assessment

When marking project assignments, the teacher will consider the extent to which you do the following:

  • Follow the directions given for the project.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret information appropriately with supporting details.
  • Organize information in an appropriate way, including an introduction, body and conclusion.
  • Communicate ideas, clearly and correctly, including citing references.

Project Preparation

What Is Required?

You will need access to the Internet or other resources to research safety legislation.

What Do I Need to Do?

The safety legislation training room is designed to provide you with all the information you need to complete this project.

How to Do It?

  1. Complete the safety legislation training room.
  2. Research the three main types of safety legislation:
    • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Regulation and Code
    • Workers' Compensation Act
    • Employment Standards Code
  3. Find out how each of the types of legislation protects you at your workplace.
  4. Create a document in which you do the following:
    • Summarize the purpose of the legislation.
    • Explain how the legislation applies in your workplace and to you.
    • Give an example or scenario that demonstrates the use or application of the legislation in your workplace.
  5. Submit your document.
  6. Write your reflection.
