In Try This 3 and Share 1 you found out that making a pool and hot tub 25% larger could result in different dimensions depending on whether the dimensions are increased by 25%, the area is increased by 25%, or the volume is increased by 25%.

 

This illustration shows four possible sets of dimensions for a hot tub. First, the original dimensions are given with a diameter of 10 feet and a depth of 4 feet. For 25 percent larger dimensions, a hot tub with a diameter of 12.5 feet and a depth of 5 feet is shown. For 25 percent larger area, a hot tub with a diameter of 11.2 feet and a depth of 4 feet is shown. For 25 percent larger volume, a hot tub with a diameter of 10.8 feet and a depth of 4.3 feet is shown.
