Looking Backward, Looking Forward
Looking Backward
Congratulations, you are almost finished CCS3120!
As you worked through CCS3120, you had opportunities to learn about young children’s physical, intellectual, and language development milestones. You also considered how, as a child care provider, you can promote development in these areas. Remember that development in these, as well as the social-emotional and creative areas, are closely related—this means that development in one area influences, and is influenced by, development in the other areas.
As a child care provider, it is important to always remember that all children have the potential to learn, but they are unique and develop at their own individual rates. It is your role to be attentive to the needs of all children in your care and to ensure that each child is nurtured.

Course Project: Strategies Box
It’s time to review the contents of your strategies box. When you’re done, complete Learning Activity 1: Reflecting on My Skills.
Learning Activity 1: Reflecting on My Skills
Directions
Step 1: Review your work from each of the sessions. Remember to include the feedback you received from your peers and from your teacher in your review.
Step 2: As you look back through you work and feedback, indicate how well you demonstrated your understanding of the basic competencies on the Student Rubric for Basic Competencies Demonstrated in CCS3120.
Looking Forward
In CCS3130 you will have opportunities to learn about promoting children’s social-emotional and creative development—the “S,” “E,” and “C” in the SPICE of Life mnemonic. You will also explore how the developmental needs of young children can be met through play.
You will continue to develop your strategies box in CCS3130, so be sure to keep your box and all of its contents in a safe place.
