In Time to Practise 1 and 2, you researched content, entered text, and modified and formatted slide layouts and content. Now it is time to add graphic objects that will draw in your audience, strengthen your message, and make your presentation more memorable for your audience.

 

What will I learn in Training Room 3?

 

In Training Room 3 you will

  • insert graphics, shapes, and other objects
  • modify graphics, shapes, and other objects
  • arrange graphics and other content
  • insert and modify charts
  • insert and modify tables

The estimated completion time for Training Room 3 and Time to Practise 3 is three hours.

 

How can I improve my learning?

 

To really grasp what you’re learning, you can

  • read and watch demonstrations in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007® to discover how to work with visual content in a presentation
  • use the Office Online Help and How-to website should you require additional instruction or software assistance
  • complete all practice activities to learn the software

Remember to complete all of Training Room 3, including all readings and practice activities, before starting Time to Practise 3.

 

From Training Room 3, you will be instructed to watch demonstrations in the Project 3 Instructional Videos, available in the Toolkit. You may want to open the following videos now so that they will be easily accessible to you as you complete the training rooms.

Also remember to save your training room and Time to Practise activities in your INF1070 folder.

Instructions

 

In your Career Connections slide show (named careers.pptx), you have already entered and formatted slide content. Now it is time to add visual interest to your presentation by adding, modifying, and arranging illustrations, charts, and tables.

 

Step 1: Open your Career Connections slide show (named careers.pptx).

 

Step 2: Make the following enhancements:

  • Add Clip Art, pictures, or shapes.
  • Add SmartArt.
  • Add a chart or a table.
  • Apply styles and effects to graphics, charts, or tables.
  • Align and place objects in order.

Remember to save your changes as you work and when you are done.

Your Career Connections slide show should now include the formatted text and visual content that is modified, suitably arranged, and includes the following:

  • Clip Art, pictures, or shapes
  • SmartArt graphics
  • a chart or a table
  • styles and effects

Once you are finished Time to Practise 3 and have saved your work, talk with your teacher regarding assessment.

 

Retrieve the Software Skills Checklist that you saved to your computer. Check off the skills you have learned in this training room and that you are confident in demonstrating. Don’t forget to resave your Checklist.

 

If needed, revisit Training Room 3 to review any of the skills in which you had difficulties. If you are comfortable demonstrating the skills presented in this training room, continue to Training Room 4.
