This project is divided into two major assignments that will allow you to showcase your knowledge about setting up an accounting system. You will complete a simulation of a business’s start up and a portfolio presentation.

It is now time to put all the pieces together from this course and allow you to demonstrate your understanding of the material. Please check with your teacher to confirm assessment weightings.

This assignment could be presented orally, as an essay, or in a slide show presentation. Whatever format you choose, you must include examples of your work. Please check with your teacher for details regarding assessment.

A Portfolio Presentation Rubric is available for you to use as a checklist. This rubric is also accessible from the Toolkit.

You will revisit all of the portfolio submissions from Financial Management 1015: Accounting Prep.

Review the portfolio submissions that you have completed for all of the projects and training rooms. The purpose of this presentation is to

  • showcase your knowledge to a potential employer
  • showcase your knowledge to a post-secondary school
  • provide you with a reference to assist in future financial management courses

You must show an understanding of each of the documents that you present, as well as a logical order of the necessary steps for setting up an accounting system.

Project 5 Summary

This project contained two assignments. In Assignment 1, you set up the necessary records for one of three service businesses. You had to prepare a business plan and then follow through with the development of the forms learned in this course. In Assignment 2, you organized your coursework and prepared a presentation that showcased all of your work in a format of your choice.
