1. Feral and neglected children
Human babies are born dependant on their parents to supply all their physical and social needs. Once in a while, children are discovered who have allegedly not been nurtured by a human parent. These children have become known as feral or "Wild Children". Watch this video to discover some of the developmental problems associated with lack of parental care.
There have been other cases of neglect, where a child has been raised with out any human contact. Watch the following videos about a 13 year old girl Genie.
2. Teratogens and developmental problems
Teratogens are chemical substances that harm a fetus while developing. Refer again to the Embryo site to see the list of drugs and their potential effects on the fetus. Click on the prescription drugs in the pregnancy tab to see what effects teratogens may have.
