Key Issue
To what extent have visions of Canadian Identity evolved?
You have now developed understandings of the concepts of identity, nation, nation-state, nationalism and internationalism. Some experts believe that contending nationalist loyalties cause much of the conflict in the world as nation struggles against nation. Others view nationalism more positively, arguing that a sense of nation and nationalism creates bonds among people that foster security and well-being. No matter what, nationalism affects your life, so the best we can do is be as educated about the issues surrounding it as possible!
