Legal Studies 3080

In this section you have looked at what goes on in a criminal trial. You have examined the role of the jury, and you have seen how a jury is selected. You have also studied the way evidence is presented in a trial, and you have learned about the rules governing what can and what cannot be used as a defence by someone accused of a criminal offence.

What comes next? If you are familiar with the criminal justice system, you will know that if an accused is found guilty, the answer to that question is sentencing and perhaps a stay at a correctional institution. You will be looking at post-trial procedures such as these in the next section.
