Reading the Novel

Your reading of the novel will be contingent upon being an active reader. The assignments for the novel study in Unit 2 will be centered on the Essential Questions and your understanding and interpretation of how the novel relates to each of them.

It's important to have a plan as well as a purpose before you begin reading, especially when it comes to longer texts, like novels. The main purpose of reading the novel is to explore how it relates to the Essential Questions. A secondary purpose is to show your understanding of the Essential Questions and how they relate to your chosen novel, both on their own, as well as in connection with the short stories.

Review the Stickynote tutorial to help you with annotating your novel selection and being an active reader.

Again, by the end of the unit, you should almost be finished reading one of the novels.
