Throughout this course you’ve engaged in activities designed to encourage your understanding and appreciation of literature as well as your ability to use language fluently and proficiently to communicate effectively. You’ve honed your abilities through the development of six language arts—listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and representing.
You learned how to communicate with others and how to become a more effective communicator. You developed the functional communication skills required to create texts and speak in a variety of situations. You examined the role that mass media and technology play in influencing the way you think about yourself and the world. You read several short stories, poems, and non-fiction texts to improve your skills in interpreting and responding to literature. Through the study of novels, movies, and plays you learned to become a more alert and active reader and viewer, and you developed an appreciation of the power of books, film, and drama to tell stories and comment on the human experience.
You now have a greater appreciation of literature and an ability to use language effectively to enhance opportunities to become a responsible, contributing citizen and lifelong learner while experiencing success and fulfillment in life.
Well done.
