Module 2 Project: Financing Your Dreams

 

 

For your Module 2 Project, you are to design an object that incorporates parallel lines and polygons. Alternatively, you can analyze an existing design in nature, architecture, art, games, or another area of interest to you. For example, you may choose to design or analyze one of the following.

• game or playing piece
• logo
• quilting pattern
• puzzle (e.g., a tangram)
• tattoo
• piece of clothing
• logic puzzle
• architectural detail
• piece of jewelry
• piece of furniture
• item in nature (plant or animal)
• pattern (e.g., a tessellation)
• artwork
• design for protective sleeve or case for electronic device
• piece of architecture (e.g., a geodesic dome, circular home, building, or bridge)
  

You must include the following elements in your design.

• Draw your design or the item you have chosen to analyze. Include an explanation of your design including why you chose that particular item.
  
  
• Mark any parallel lines, equal sides, congruent triangles, and angle measures in the design.
  
  
• Explain how you know that each of your markings is correct.

The purpose of this project is to apply your understanding of the properties of angles and polygons to your design and to use your reasoning skills to solve any design-related problems. Make sure you provide appropriate reasoning and calculations where applicable. Providing appropriate reasoning means explaining how you know your lines are parallel, how you have proved your triangles are congruent, how you have figured out the measures of angles in the design, and any other explanations based on the mathematical and reasoning processes you have worked on throughout this module.

Make any changes you feel would make your work better. Submit your completed rubric with your project.

 

Once you have completed your project, check with your teacher about how you should submit your project work.
