Session 3: Observing Young Children

Scenario: Pancakes

N (age two years and three months), S (age two years and 11 months), and R (age three years) have had a super time in dramatic play making pancakes, cleaning, and cooking. The child care provider has reminded the children twice that it is clean-up time.

When the child care provider comes back, N glares at the provider, places her hands on her hips, and shouts “Go away! We are not finished. We will come when we want to!”
