The First Nations University of Canada has campuses in Prince Albert, Saskatoon, and Regina, Saskatchewan. The Regina campus, seen in the photograph, was designed by internationally renowned architect Douglas Cardinal.

The theme for Unit 2 was reflected in the Unit 2 Project. In the Unit 2 Project you modified your habitat or product design from Unit 1. To modify your design, you applied some of the linear and area measurement skills that architects, like Douglas Cardinal, use in their building designs.

In Module 3 you explored linear measurement. You estimated length and distance, applied formulas for perimeter and circumference, located midpoints of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects, and investigated problem situations involving linear dimensions. You learned that perimeter measurements can be used to calculate the material needed for exterior walls.

In Module 4 you measured the area of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects, including cylinders and cones. You estimated areas and then checked your estimations. You learned that the amount of paint or carpet required to cover a surface can be based on area calculations.

Contact your teacher to make sure you have completed all of the requirements for Unit 2. When you are sure you are ready, move on to Unit 3.
