Module 8 Summary

In this module you investigated the following question: How is mathematics related to current events or areas of interest?

 

Collecting data, analyzing and interpreting that data, and then using the data to present your understanding of a topic or concepts are important skills. For this project, you chose a topic and were given a choice of different presentation styles to demonstrate your findings. Throughout the preparation of your presentation, you were given feedback by a peer, family member, or friend to make your presentation more concise and clear. You were also asked to self-assess your project before submitting it to your teacher.

 

The purpose of this project was to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate—through real-life current events—your understanding of mathematics and to enable you to see the role mathematics plays in society. Now that you have completed your project, you should now have an answer to the question, “Where in our present world does math exist?”
