In Career and Technology Studies (CTS), you are meant to become an explorer! As you begin this course, it is up to you to gain control of your journey to success. The goal of this assignment is to answer the following question: “Why am I taking this course?”
Instructions
Step 1: Take a good look at the one-credit course you are starting.
Step 2: Review the Course Checklist.
Step 3: Review the Course Outcomes for HCS3010: Workplace Safety Practices.
Step 4: Choose and complete one of the assignment options below.
Assignment Option 1: Checklist

Set your compass and plan your learning journey. Based on what you know about the course outcomes, create a checklist with at least five course-related goals you intend to achieve. For each item in your checklist, explain why this goal is important to you in terms of your future goals.
Review Getting Started Example to see a sample of what was submitted in another course.
Save your checklist in your course folder.
Assignment Option 2: Portfolio

You will create a portfolio to capture your journey through this course. As you complete this course, add items you can show to a future employer as a way of demonstrating your knowledge of workplace safety.
The first item you will add to your portfolio is a description of your current career pathway plans and how the work you will do in this course will support your portfolio.
Each item for your portfolio, including this assignment, can take any digital form. For example, you can complete this assignment by writing a few paragraphs, completing a mind web, drawing an illustration, or by using any other technique agreed upon with your teacher.
Add this assignment to your portfolio.
Assessment
Submit your completed assignment to your teacher. Clearly indicate whether you have completed Assignment Option 1: Checklist, or Assignment Option 2: Portfolio.
Your assignment will be evaluated using the Skill Rubric.
