In 1967, Canada celebrated its centennial as a nation. That year, the world’s fair, Expo 67, was held in Montreal. The theme of Expo 67 was “Man and his World.” To celebrate this theme, a showcase of affordable housing was built and was called Habitat 67. The modular design, by architect Moshe Safdie, was a new way of designing affordable housing. The pavilion was visited by thousands of visitors who came to Montreal’s Expo 67.

Like Moshe Safdie, you designed a habitat or a product for sale as part of your Unit 1 Project. To complete your design, you applied your measurement skills. You used both the International System of Units (SI) and the imperial system of weights and measures.

In Module 1 you explored the International System of Units (SI) for length, area, volume, capacity, mass, and temperature.

In Module 2 you explored the imperial system and its units for length, area, volume, capacity, mass, and temperature. You examined and applied strategies to convert units from one system to the other.

Contact your teacher to confirm that you have completed all of the requirements for Unit 1. After completing these requirements, you will be prepared to go to Unit 2.
