Prosperity and Satisfaction
In this assignment you will create a graph about the satisfaction of Canadians with their prosperity.
Create and conduct a survey about aspects of the prosperity of Canada and the relative satisfaction of Canadians in your own community about their quality of life. You need to
- recording the survey questions
- conducting the survey
- creating the graph
cost of living: a measure of how affordable basic goods and services are in comparison to the average incomes of citizens
This also measures how affordable it is to maintain a high standard of living.
disposable income: the portion of an individual’s wages that remains after meeting the costs of purchasing basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, and health care
This lack of income may be a factor in an individual’s ability to access opportunities such as leisure time and non-essential goods.
Incorporate elements that may represent aspects of prosperity. You may use some of the following elements in the survey questions. Include instructions for responses based on levels of satisfaction (for example, dissatisfied, mostly satisfied, very satisfied).
- cost of living
- wages
- employment
- home ownership
- access to social services
- disposable income
- leisure and entertainment
- prosperity in Canada
- quality of life in Canada
Survey the people in your community. Try to gather responses from people who represent diverse age groups.
Create a graph illustrating the satisfaction of your survey respondents to the different questions. Evaluate the relative satisfaction of Canadians. Create a statement that reflects the information on your graph. You may want to search recent information on Canada's work-life balance to compare Canadian attitudes towards their quality of life.Â
