Part 1: Create a Promotional Strategy
What is a Tourism Promotional Strategy?
Tourism development has not been achieved overnight and it is constantly developing. There is huge competition throughout the world between the various tourist destinations as they attempt to attract more tourists through marketing procedures and promotions.
Tourism promotion means trying to encourage the past and potential customers to travel to a destination or visit an attraction through the spreading of information regarding opportunities, pricing, and availability. A promotion strategy is a plan that identifies the target customer group, a SWOT (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats), the promotional / advertising methods to be used, the direct financial costs and effects that the promotion has on the business (eg., will a 30% off still leave a profit), the goals of the promotion, how details will reach the customer, and importantly, how to statistically track the promotion's success or failure.
Three types of promotion help to modify the consumer's behavior in the buying process:

Three types of promotion help to modify the consumer's behavior in the buying process:
- Informative Promotions. Most effective at the early buying stages because it draws attention and comprehension about a destination or attraction.
- Persuasive Promotion. Works well at intermediate buying process stages to assist with the tourist's attitude, intentions, and eventually purchase.
- Reminder Promotions. These are effective in ensuring repeat visitors continue to purchase the same product instead of switching to another destination.
