1.1 Introducing Me Assignment
The Assignment
Working by yourself in a distance learning environment can seem like a lonely experience, yet it is also one you share with numerous classmates from across the province and around the globe.
In your first assignment in this course, introduce yourself to your Lead teacher by phone. Here are some of the topics I will discuss with you:
When you talk to me, plan to have about 15 minutes of "free" time to spend on the phone. I would like to take the opportunity to tell you about my role as your teacher, as well as walk you through how to navigate SIS and the course. I will also deal with some 'paperwork' type questions -- preferred method of contact, parent(s) name(s) and email, and so on.
This assignment is formative -- that is, it doesn't count towards your overall grade, but it does have to be completed before you can continue on with the Unit 1 assignments.
If you'd like to book an appointment, you can check out my upcoming calendar for 10-1 Oral Assignment slots or you can email me a date/time that will work for you to call me.
I look forward to chatting with you!
In your first assignment in this course, introduce yourself to your Lead teacher by phone. Here are some of the topics I will discuss with you:
- What are your main characteristics and interests?
- Have you taken distance learning courses before? What brings you to ADLC
- What are your strengths in English Language Arts? What are some skills you'd like to strengthen or develop?
- Do you have a goal in mind for completing the course? Would you like a pacing schedule set up to help you achieve this goal?
- Have you received the required materials?
