Completion requirements
In this assignment, show how you would vary the tone and volume of your voice and the pace of your speech as you describe a situation to different audiences.
You may use a computer or paper to complete this assignment.
When you are done, review for spelling and proper punctuation.

Choose one of the situations below and answer the questions that follow each.
You and a friend were at the skateboard park when your friend attempted a new trick and crashed! You have to take your friend to the emergency room at the hospital. Fortunately, after being checked over and cleaned up, your friend's injuries are said to be mild.
Now record the various ways you would describe the accident to each of the people below. Mention what you would say and what tone, volume, and pace you would use.
- the nurse admitting your friend to the emergency room
- your friend's parents when you call them to let them know your friend is at the emergency room
- your other friends who want to hear about the spectacular crash
You just got your driver's license. Driving the family car home from the driver's test, you are pulled over for driving too fast.
Now, record the various ways you would describe the incident to the people below. Mention what you would say and what tone, volume, and pace you would use.

- the police officer who pulled you over
