Lesson 8 — Activity 2: Assignment
Completion requirements
In this assignment, think about asking questions and making predictions.
Marking Guide:
In this assignment, think about asking questions and making predictions.
Do the following:
1. Read the paragraph below and think of two questions you have about the reading. Then make two predictions about what might happen next. /4
It was a crisp autumn morning and the leaves crunched beneath Sid's skateboard as he moved up the street. Although he looked as if he did not have a care in the world, on the inside his head was spinning. "What am I going to do? What am I going to do?" The question pounded in his brain as he approached the intersection.
2. Often making predictions can help us when we are making decisions. Read the following scenarios and choose three to solve. Think of a possible solution and then make a prediction about what will happen if you follow that solution. /6
Scenario #1:
You are travelling in an elevator in a hotel when the elevator stops between floors. What do you do?
Scenario #2:
You are at an international basketball game with your friends and get separated from them on the way out of the gym. You live at least 20 km away and have no money for a bus or a taxi. What would you do?
Scenario #3:
You are babysitting your younger brother and he fell off his bike and appears hurt. You are the only person in the house. What do you do?
Scenario #4:
You and your friends are walking in a mall while waiting for the movie to begin. You notice a young girl being pushed around by a group of guys. She looks very uncomfortable. What do you do?
Scenario #5:
Your next door neighbour is very friendly and has a very large dog. The dog is friendly, but it comes on your property and digs large holes in your backyard. The backyard is slowly getting ruined. Your mother wants to call the dog pound, but you know that your neighbour will be heartbroken. What do you do?
Scenario #6:
You and your friend have been given summer jobs. However, your friend is always coming late for work and is fooling around on the job. What do you do?
