In this project, you will design an advertisement that explains a crop technology. You are required to submit this project to your teacher for marks. Very carefully, read the

Situation
Some types of crop-growing technologies are very controversial, including the use of pesticides, herbicides, hydroponics, and GMO crops.
The health board in Alberta wants to inform the public about the benefits and risks of food grown with these various technologies. They want people to have accurate information on both sides of the issue so citizens can make informed decisions about the food they buy and eat.
The health board wants input from young people such as you on how best to communicate information about crop technologies and food to teenagers.

Design an advertisement aimed at teenagers that explains clearly the advantages and disadvantages of your choice of one crop technology.

Before you begin your advertisement, ask yourself these questions:
What crop technology do I want to research and advertise?
How am I going to find more information about my chosen crop technology?
How will I explain this issue clearly in a balanced and informative way?

Method
1. Research your chosen crop technology. Sources of information include the following:
2. Construct two tables to collect information. One table will summarize the advantages of the crop technology and the other will summarize the disadvantages of the crop technology.

- Reference books
- News articles in newspapers and magazines or other publications
- Websites
- YouTube videos
- Interviews with adults who work in farming or health
2. Construct two tables to collect information. One table will summarize the advantages of the crop technology and the other will summarize the disadvantages of the crop technology.
The two tables must contain information summarized in your own words. Beside each piece of supporting information, list the source of the information. For example, insert the URL of any websites, book titles and authors, newspaper names and dates of publication or names of people interviewed as your sources.
You must submit the two tables with your advertisement.3. Choose the way you would like to communicate your advertisement. Here are some ideas from which you can choose:

- Draw a poster containing written information.
- Video a TV commercial.
- Record a radio ad or podcast.
- Write a newspaper article.
- Use some other creative idea, but check with your teacher first!
