Lesson 16 — Activity 2: Assignment
For this assignment, you will prepare a cover letter that you could submit if you were applying for a job. If
you do not already have a cover letter, please use the information from the
previous activity to create your first cover letter. However, if you already
have a cover letter, please be sure to update it for this assignment. Make
sure that all of the information is accurate and up to date.
For full marks on this assignment, be sure to do the following:
- Use the printout from the ALIS website on cover letter writing. You were asked to print out the a sample cover letter that appeals to
you. Use that document for this assignment.
- If you already have a cover letter saved somewhere, use it for this assignment. However, you must update it.
- The job that you are applying for is Summer Student
for a town. The duties include:
- cutting grass
- planting flowers and
trees
- watering and fertilizing plants
- picking garbage
- painting
fire hydrants
- Design your cover letter specifically for this job.
- Have a friend, classmate, or teacher proofread your cover letter before submitting it. The cover letter should have no errors!
- Print a copy of your cover letter, and hand it in your teacher.
- Keep a copy of your cover letter
in paper and electronic format. You can update this document anytime
you need it when applying for a new job.
Reminder: Be sure to type your cover letter in a Word document. Save your résumé, and print a copy for your teacher.
