Lesson 23 - Vocabulary Assignment Part 1

In this assignment, look at the list of words you have compiled for chapters 1 – 13. Choose FIVE of the words from the list and do the following:

1. Write a dictionary definition that provides the meaning of the word as it is used in the novel.

2. Select an image or draw a picture that shows the meaning of the word.

You may put this work on the Vocabulary Log page.

1. If you typed your work into the Vocabulary Log, save the document so that you can return to it to complete additional work in an upcoming activity.

2. If you printed out the document and completed it by handwriting or used a separate piece of paper to compile your list and complete the assignment, hand it in and keep it with your Language Arts materials when you receive it back so you can return to it to complete additional work in a future activity.

Marking Guide:

Vocabulary Assignment: Part 1 is worth 10 marks.

This part of the assignment should contain five words. You will receive 2 marks for each word: 1 mark for the dictionary definition and 1 mark for the image or picture.
