Lesson 5 — Activity 2: Assignment

Information for Assignment:

You may use a computer or paper to complete this assignment as follows:

1. Identify which picture you chose, and then give your explanation of WHY you think the artist chose this particular shot and what THEME or IDEA the artist is trying to communicate through the shot. Complete this activity by writing a paragraph (be sure to include your topic and concluding sentence).
   

*Remember to give your paragraph a title.

Please do one of the following:

You can type your work directly into the assignment box on the next page by clicking the "Add submission" button under the orange box at the bottom of this page.

If you typed your work in a separate Word document, save your document, and either send it to your teacher as an e-mail attachment or print it off and hand it in to your teacher so it can be graded. You can also attach your document within Moodle. To do this, click on the "Add submission" button below, and then click on "File submissions."

You can also choose to complete a hand-written assignment on a piece of paper. If so, please hand in your assignment to your teacher so it can be graded.

Remember to write complete sentences, organize your ideas, and proofread your work.

NOTE:  Be sure to tell in your writing which image you chose (1, 2, or 3)!

Marking Guide:

Your assignment will be marked out of a total of 5 marks as follows:

Type of shot — 1 mark each for describing the type of shot (using the elements from the previous activity and the "click here" link above) to tell the type of shot (for a total of two marks).

Explanation — Up to 3 marks for telling why the artist chose the shot and explaining the theme or idea the artist is trying to communicate through the shot.
