Complete one of the following activities to show what you have learned in the lessons for this theme.
Information for Assignment:
The project assignment for Theme 3 requires you to make use of some of the concepts covered in these lessons. Choose one of the following activities for your theme project.
- Imagine you are a reporter for a television, radio station, newspaper, magazine, or online news source. Think of a story you would like to investigate and report on it. Choose to write about an actual current issue or create your own story.
- Choose an advertisement that you feel strongly about and analyze the ad to show how the advertiser did or did not successfully appeal to your emotions.
- Create and illustrate your own editorial cartoon or comic strip.
- Create a homepage that would encourage people to visit your website.
Please do one of the following:
You may use a computer or paper to complete this assignment. You may:
- You can type your work directly into the assignment box on the next page (depending on the assignment format you chose) by clicking the "Add submission" button under the orange box at the bottom of this page.
- If you typed your work in a separate Word document, save your document, and either send it to your teacher as an e-mail attachment or print it off and hand it in to your teacher so it can be graded. You can also attach your document within Moodle. To do this, click on the "File submissions" button below.
- You can also choose to complete a hand-written assignment on a piece of paper (e.g., if you chose to create and illustrate your own editorial cartoon or comic strip, etc.). If so, please hand in your assignment to your teacher so it can be graded.
- If you chose to create your own homepage that would encourage people to visit your website, please give the link to your homepage to your teacher so that it can be graded.
Remember to use complete sentences, organize your ideas, and proofread
your work.

Thought and Understanding (7 possible marks) — Does the project demonstrate a clear understanding of the concepts covered in Theme 3?
Clarity of Communication (3 possible marks) — 3 marks based on your organization of ideas, how clear your format is, and the number of proofreading errors.
