Government Presentation
In a municipality, you will discover various types of meetings that you may have the opportunity to attend:
If you were to present a community issue, which meeting would you attend?
- Committee Meeting
meeting of members appointed to a committee to discuss a particular topic
regular meeting of the elected members of council to discuss items on their agenda
- Community or Town Hall Meeting
informal public meeting to give the public information
- Public Input Session
meeting designed to gather public opinions about an issue

Instructions
To prepare your Government Presentation, do the following:

Earlier you interviewed community members and identified three areas in which the community could improve.
Identify your Concern. Choose one of the issues that you feel should be addressed by your local government. Check pages 118 and 119 of your textbook for more ideas.
- Research the Issue – who are your local leaders? Do other people feel the same as you?
- Develop an Action Plan to show how you would deal with the issue. Include 6 Steps as on page 22 in Take Action, Make a Difference.
- Prepare a Presentation about the issue as though you would present it to your local council. Consider the demands on the government budget to ensure your request is fair.

Choose one of the following formats
i) Speech (p. 19 Take Action – Make a Difference)
ii) Letter to the Editor that you will read to your teacher (p. 20-21 Take Action – Make a Difference)
iii) Multimedia (video or powerpoint) Presentation (p. 32 Take Action – Make a Difference)
- Follow the POPP plan on page 116 of the textbook to construct your presentation.
When you have completed your 5-3 assessment, use the "Add submission" button below to submit your assessment to your teacher.
