Unit 1 Classroom Chemistry Pre-Assessment
Pre-Assesment
In this unit, you will learn about the properties and interactions of some safe-to-handle household liquids and solids. You will test various materials to see what happens when things are mixed together: what dissolves, what reacts, and what remains unaffected.
You will discover that, when a solid material dissolves, it can be recovered as a crystal by evaporating the liquid. You will learn that, when two materials react to form a new material, the original materials cannot be recovered.
Ask Yourself
What do I already know about chemistry?
Physical and chemical changes occur around us every day. Chemical changes allow us to breathe, grow, live, cook, participate in every day activities, and do endless things!
