People can make a lot of waste! Some waste is toxic and can harm living things and the environment, and some waste will last for hundreds of years. You read in the book The Lorax about what could happen to the earth if people do not take care
of natural resources and if they do not control waste. Fortunately, people can take care of the environment and handle waste responsibly by following the three Rs: reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Research to find out what happens to the waste in your community. Where does your garbage go?
- Show how your community deals with waste by constructing a photostory, news article, VoiceThread, poster, or a PowerPoint. You can discuss any other presentation ideas with your teacher.
