Assignment
You have reflected on where you are from, to whom you are connected, where you are going, and what you value. Your responses to all these questions have generated ideas for your first
two assignments.Step 1 | For Assignment 1.1, you will create a plan for a presentation that shows how words have impacted you. Later, you will use your 1.1 plan to complete your Assignment 1.2 presentation. Review Shauna Baldwin's essay. In it, she reflects on how writing has influenced her. Reflect back on your life. You may realize there are some words and phrases you’ve heard (perhaps someone said them to you at a significant moment, or someone repeatedly said these words to you). How have they impacted who you are, both positively and negatively? For example, people who have low self-esteem may have heard constant criticism throughout their lives, and those words had a significant impact. Conversely, a book that was read to someone throughout his or her childhood may have impacted that person to enjoy reading or to pursue a certain career or hobby. Consider the impact words have had on your own life—through poetry, literature, song lyrics, lines from films and graphic/comic books, words from family, inspirational quotations from famous people—any and all words! |
