Once you have received feedback on your essay plan, it is time to write the essay itself. Follow each of these steps, in order, to complete your assignment.          

Step 1:  Before you begin, examine the rubric to see how your assignment will be assessed. 

Step 2:  Next, read Lola’s example assignment. 

Step 3:  Write the essay.  Once you receive your teacher’s evaluation of your essay planning sheet, read the suggestions carefully.  Phone your teacher if you need clarification on the comments or for assistance with the writing process.  Then, write the essay.

Step 4:  Proofread. 

• First, run your Spell Checker to catch any basic spelling errors. 
• Then, read through the essay out loud to check for other errors (missing words, unclear wording, etc.).
• Next, find a “critical friend,” a teacher, parent, or classmate you trust to read your work and give you honest feedback.

Step 5:  Once you have proofread and revised your work, save the document AND your bibliography in the following way: Your Full Name 1.7 Personal Response Essay.

Step 6:  Submit your assignment in the space provided.
