Follow each of these steps, in order, to complete your assignment.
Step 1: Before you begin, examine the rubric to see how you will be assessed on this assignment.
Step 2: Next, look at Lola’s 3.5 Look Book for an example of the assignment, and examine her rubric so you can see how she was assessed.
Step 3: Choose a character from the play whose Look Book you would like to design. You also need to choose at least three items from the following list to include in your Look Book. You may include more, if you’d like.NOTE: Lola created her Look Book on the character of the father from the short story “Every Person Gets Their Due—Especially on Christmas Eve,” but your assignment should be based on a character from Selfie.
- the character’s physical appearance (for casting purposes)
- wardrobe
- make-up/hair
- props
- set design
Step 4: Plan the details of your Look Book. Review the parts of the play in which your character appears.
- On a piece of paper, jot down quotations (and page numbers) of lines of dialogue or stage directions that will help you make decisions for your Look Book.
- Brainstorm ideas for each of the three sections of your Look Book based on the quotations you have written down.
Step 5: Choose how you would like to complete this assignment. You have many options.
- Hard Copy—Paint, draw, build, etc. a hard copy of your vision board and mail to your teacher, or photograph it and submit it on the space provided on this page.
- Animoto—Add photos, videos, and text to create stylish videos and set them to music. (Animoto Tutorial)
- Linoit—Design a virtual interactive bulletin board. (Linoit Tutorial)
- Powtoon.com—Create an animated cartoon-based video. (Powtoon Tutorial)
- PowerPoint— Create a slide show with the option of adding animation and sound effects. (PowerPoint Tutorial)
- Microsoft Word (or any word processing program)—Create a traditional document containing all of your links, images, and other artifacts.

Step 6: Create your Look Book.
Step 7: Save your document in the following way: Your Full Name 3.5 Look Book.
- Display your character’s name in your book.
- Clearly label each section of your book with a heading (Wardrobe, Costumes, etc.)
- Include a minimum of two quotations (and page numbers) from the play in each section.
- Include pictures in each section. (Sites like pixabay.com are a great resource for free images, but you can also find pictures in online clothing catalogues, online magazines, or any other source you can think of.)
- Add brief notes in each section to explain your vision.

Step 8: Submit your assignment in the space provided.
- If you created your project using an online application, you can simply copy and paste the link to your project online in the space provided on this page.
- If you created a physical Look Book, mail it to your teacher, or take a photo of each page of your book and upload the photos to this page.
