Make me laugh!
Assignment
Creating a Graphic Story
You will create your own graphic story, either by drawing or using the Storyboard That
website.
You can make panels about what you think happened next in Driving Mrs. Torpolli Crazy, or make up your own story about other characters.

You will focus on using these techniques when creating your storyboard:
- Sequence in Your Story
-
Does the story progress in a sensible way from one panel to another? In other words, is the action in Panel 2 believable after what happened in Panel 1?
-
Are events in all panels connected?
-
Does each panel help to develop the story?
- How Pictures Help Tell the Story
-
Pictures should enhance the story or make it better.
-
Do your pictures explain parts of the story that have no words?
-
Do your characters have laughing faces if something is funny?
-
Are they running away if they're in trouble?
-
Are they looking excitedly at what's happening?
- Use of Technique
-
Have you used techniques to make people laugh?
-
Can you use more than one? More than two? More than three?
Choose from the following two options.
Go to the Storyboard That, website to begin creating your storyboard.
Instructions
Follow these instructions to make a Storyboard:
- Use this planner to organize your Storyboard.
- Use your e-mail address to register at Storyboard That in order to save your work. Do not use your real name.
- You probably would like to practise before making your final product. Go ahead, but do not save the practise ones, because you can only make three Storyboards a week for free.
- If you save three Storyboards before you start the one for this lesson, you will not be able to save what you create until another week has gone by, unless you pay for an account.
- Plan ahead so you can make your Storyboard without having to start over many times.
- Read the Rubric to be sure you know what is expected of you.
If You Choose to Draw Your Three Panels on Paper
- Use this planner to organize your story. Send the planner to your teacher so he or she can give you some feedback before you go any further. You'll use this planner again in another assignment.
- Read the Rubric ahead of time so you know what is expected of you.
- Scan your finished product in order to submit it to your teacher.
