You don't need words to make this comic strip funny. Looking at the pictures is enough.
Read the pictures on pages 96 to 97 in Literacy in Action 4B. You can imagine what the cat and the dog are thinking in each frame, can't you?
Have some fun with this wordless comic by adding what you think the cat and dog are thinking. Download and complete the Mutts Thought Balloons worksheet.
Fill in the thought balloons with what you think the animals are thinking. Think about the different techniques authors use to make us laugh. Can you make use of some of them to make the character's thoughts funny

You be one character, and the other person will be the second character. Pretend the cartoon is a movie, and you have to say the words for your character. What would you say? What does the other person say? Trade with the other person so you can have a turn with each character.

Save
How to save a file:
- Have the file open and select Save As from the File menu.
- Name your Reader's Notebook: Joke Chart file in this format: jsmith_jokechart and save the file to your Documents folder.
