Do the following:
Have a look at each poem and then choose one to answer questions about.
The small drum
Throbbed a story
And the old man agreed
Eyes dancing
Head nodding
In
The firelight
His body moved
To the rhythm
Of the drumstick
But
He did not know
It was in his hand
Nor the drum between his legs
Mist
Precedes the day
And in the mist
The old man saw
His prayer
He said nothing
But
The small drum
Remembered.
I was mixing stars and sand
In front of him
But he couldn’t understand
I was keeping the lightning of
The thunder in my purse
Just in front of him
But he couldn’t understand
And I had been killed a thousand times
Right at his feet
But he hadn’t understood
