Political and Economic Assignment

Initially, the First Nations, Mêtis, and Inuit people exhibited a peaceful coexistence. These cultural group's interactions benefitted each other and resulted in political and economic adaptation and/or interdependence. 

Conduct research (remember to use the Resources links) on the influences of Europeans and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples on each other. Look at items such as the fur trade (seal, beaver, buffalo), marriage, the survival of the Europeans, exchange of goods (natural medicines, sugar, rifles, metal goods). These are just suggestions - there are many more examples of how the cultures helped and supported each other and it is expected that you will include some of them in your assignment).

Think about the different technologies that the First Nations, Inuit, and the Métis create that still work today as they were originally designed. Many of these technologies have names that are part of the Canadian vocabulary.
