Read the web page "The Real Charlie Lavery?",  which presents the story of Johnny Bourassa, the bush pilot on whom Farley Mowat may have based the character of Charlie Lavery.

Read Farley Mowat's short story "Walk Well, My Brother".  As you read, consider the threatening forces faced by Konala.  Consider those faced by Lavery.  Who has the greater battle?
