C. Self - Government
In, 1995, the federal government officially recognized Aboriginal peopleβs inherent right to self-government.Β In other words, the government acknowledged that Aboriginal peoples have been denied a birth-right: the ability to govern their own lives.Β Acknowledging this fact has proven easier than putting it in practice.Β Although several Aboriginal groups now have self-government agreements, most are in negotiations.
