Project Preparation
What Is Required?
- software to create your glossary
- access to the Internet or other resources to research terminology
What Do I Need to Do?
Once you have completed this course and all the Checking In exercises and project assignments, assemble a glossary of terms including, but not limited to the following terms, as they are related to workplace safety:
hazard | joint health and safety committee |
risk | responsibilities |
exposure | personal protective equipment |
incident | fall protection |
injury | scaffolding |
monitor | incident |
employer | investigation |
worker | muster point |
contractor | Certificate of Recognition (COR) |
bill C-45 | Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) |
How to Do It?
- Define each of the terms listed as they are related to workplace safety. (You will find most of these definitions in the legislation documents you learned about in Training Room 3, including Workers' Compensation, the Employment Standards Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act).
- Provide an example that explains how the word would be used in a workplace context. In some cases, the definition is the example.
- Assemble your glossary and examples in an appropriate, neat, and organized format.
- Write your reflection.
What Do I Already Know?
What terminology do I need to know to understand workplace safety and to be able to explain it to someone else?
Checking My Work
You will be assessed using the project rubric based on the quality of your written work and the depth of your responses. Open the rubric and assess yourself or have a classmate, family member, or friend review your work and provide feedback before submitting your assignment to ensure that you are satisfied with your quality of work.
Project Summary
- Once you have completed this project place your reflections and your glossary of terms and examples in your course folder.
