1.1. Learning Activity 1
Session 4: Guiding Children’s Behaviour
Learning Activity 1: Establishing Routines and Transitions to Prevent Behaviours of Concern
Focus
The more you think about routines and transitions, the better you will become in planning routines and transitions that prevent behaviours of concern from occurring.
Directions
Step 1: Obtain or create a copy of the daily schedule used in the child care facility you have been visiting. If you are not spending full days or are not at the facility at various times throughout the day, ask the child care provider(s) about the schedule during the times you have not been in the centre. Save the schedule in your course folder.
Step 2: Complete Part 1 of Learning Activity 1: Establishing Routines and Transitions to Prevent Behaviours of Concern.
Step 3: At the child care facility, observe the reminders, signals, or warnings that child care providers use to support the children in transitions, and then complete Part 2 of Learning Activity 1: Establishing Routines and Transitions to Prevent Behaviours of Concern.
Checking In
Save your completed learning activity and a copy of the child care facility’s daily schedule in the appropriate sub-folder of your course folder.
