Are people often influenced by others?
Are people affected by choices they make?
Can a strong sense of determination help people to achieve life goals?
Is having courage an important life quality?
Do people feel the need to belong?
Following is my exemplar post which you may use for an example of the post expectations:
What lengths would you go to, in order to belong to a certain crowd, or to help your own son belong to a certain crowd?! In the short story, “On Thin Ice,” by John Lemon, the father of Frankie, takes this need to belong much too far! Even though Frankie is very young, his dad buys him a brand new black 800 Can-Am quad for his birthday. Really!! An 800 HP quad! In my opinion, this is just a crazy thing to do! This is just “begging for trouble!” I wasn’t surprised when Frankie started showing off for his friends so he could be a cool one of the group, and I wasn’t surprised when his life was threatened either, when his quad and himself fell through the ice. Give a kid an overpowered quad, and a group of friends to impress, and that is what will probably happen! Frankie’s dad should have known better, and, I think he might be even more responsible for the quad accident than Frankie, himself! Dad must have wanted his family to look important, or for his son to be “better than the rest,” and he paid for this need by losing the quad he had just bought, and he could have lost his son’s life too! Dad’s need to belong went much too far--it went beyond the use of responsible parenting and common sense!
