Governments and citizens sometimes have different views on how ideologies should influence decisions and on what the rights, roles, and responsibilities of citizenship are in times of conflict and peace. For example, during the Iraq War anti-war movements, some citizens will show their rights and roles as citizens in support or against government policy. Likewise, pro-democracy grassroots movements have grown up through digital response to issues such as the Orange Revolution in Ukraine.

Does the banning of one-use plastics require grassroots movements?

Investigate the article and beyond then discuss:

What is the shared belief that the citizens wanted to be changed?

What are some of the different perspectives on the issue?

How effective is this form of digital citizenship in addressing the issue?

What rights, roles, and responsibilities do you have in combating one use plastic products?
