Unit 3 Lesson 2 Formative Forum
Since you completed your CHECKLIST for Unit 3 Lesson 1, you are ready to prove to one of the classmates an outcome that no one else has shown yet.
To receive full marks follow the following procedure:
a) Post a new forum and indicate which outcome (found in the bottom) you are showing that no one else has done yet. (1 mark)
b) Make up a question about this outcome (1 mark)
c) Show the detailed solution with explanations of each step to obtain your final solution (5 marks)
You can submit this to the class either through any of the following formats: video/text/paper & pencil.
d) Once you are done with your post, you need to comment on another student in the class and observe if they completed the solution correctly and if it is correct the solution state this, but if it is not then correct their solution (3 marks).
- explain chemical principles (i.e., conservation of mass in a chemical change), using quantitative analysis- identify limiting and excess reagents in chemical reactions
- define theoretical yields and actual yields
- explain the discrepancy between theoretical and actual yields
- draw and interpret titration curves, using data from titration experiments involving strong monoprotic acids and strong monoprotic bases
- describe the function and choice of indicators in titrations
- identify equivalence points on strong monoprotic acidβstrong monoprotic base titration curves and differentiate between the indicator endpoint and the equivalence point.
- explain that scientific knowledge may lead to the development of new technologies, and new technologies may lead1 to or facilitate scientific discovery
- explain how the appropriateness, risks and benefits of technologies need to be assessed for each potential application from a variety of perspectives, including sustainability
