ย Evaluation:

English 30-1 involves four different sections that determine your mark.

The modules are worth 20% of your course grade. They are where the formative assessment, measuring how you are learning, occurs. ย ย

The module exams are worth 30% of your course grade. There are three, each worth ten. These are timed essay exams in Modules 3, 5 and 7. They are designed as diploma style questions, to help you prepare to write the diploma exam.ย

The midterm exam is worth 20% of your course grade. The midterm is a reading comprehension multiple choice exam. It is modeled after Part B of the diploma exam.

The final exam is worth 30% of your course grade. The final exam is a two part essay exam, modeled after Part A of the diploma exam.

This equals 100% of your course grade.ย

The diploma exam is worth 30% of your total grade. To get your total grade, multiply your course grade by 0.7 and your diploma mark by 0.3, and add them together!

For example, an 80% course grade times 0.7 is 56, plus a 75% diploma grade times 0.3 is 22.5, so we add those together and the total grade is 78.5%

ย

It is important to know this course is constantly being improved and changed, and this is a guide to learning, not a definitive list.ย
