Once you have decided on a career path, you need to determine what training or education you need after high school. There are some careers that you can start right after high school; however, many careers will require you to receive additional training or education. Any education or training that you pursue after high school is considered post-secondary.
Certificate
Certificate programs are typically one-year programs that prepare you for entry-level employment. Certificate programs are very diverse and can include areas such as medical transcription, office administration, and web development.
Diploma
Diploma programs are typically two-year programs that prepare you for entry-level positions. There are many diploma programs offered, including hospitality management, journalism, and respiratory therapy. Many diploma programs are highly competitive and attract university graduates looking for skill-specific training.

There are many other types of training available in different fields. Some examples are flight schools, vocational schools, continuing education courses, and seminaries.
