Polymers
So far you have learned about various families of hydrocarbon derivatives. You have explored how the unique functional groups affect the physical and chemical properties of these molecules. One family of hydrocarbon derivatives not yet discussed is polymers.
Polymers can be either natural or synthetic.
Examples of synthetic polymers include plastic, polyester, Teflon, and nylon. Examples of natural polymers include rubber, cotton, silk, and wool.
