Module 6

Lesson 3  Quantitative Relationships in Cells

The mass of an element produced at an electrode depends on the number of moles of transferred electrons. This is true whether you are considering a voltaic cell or an electrolytic cell. In this lesson, you will learn how to indirectly determine the moles of electrons that pass through an electrochemical cell (voltaic or electrolytic) in a given time. Then, you will utilize this information to predict the amounts of substances that are consumed or produced at the electrodes of that given cell.
