Course Introduction
Welcome to Biology 30
In Biology 30, you will learn more than facts. You will be encouraged to develop positive attitudes and to acquire and use knowledge and skills in responsible ways. This course is intended to develop students' understanding and application of biological concepts and skills. Biology 30 focuses on understanding the biological principles behind the natural events students experience and technology they use daily.
Biology 30 is composed of four units:
Unit A: Nervous and Endocrine Systems
Unit B: Reproduction and Development
Unit C: Cell Division, Genetics, and Molecular Biology
Unit D: Population and Community Dynamics
Alberta Diploma Examination
Biology 30 is a Grade 12 course that requires the students to write the Alberta Provincial Diploma Exam at the end. The student's final score for the course is determined by weighting the school-awarded mark as 70% and the diploma exam mark as 30%. For more information, ask your course teacher.
