1. The following animation is excellent at showing all steps described above. You may find that watching this clip a few times is worthwhile.  The animation shows DNA polymerase III adding nucleotides to the RNA primer laid down by primase and DNA polymerase I removing the primer and replacing it with DNA nucleotides.  You don't need to distinguish between the two in Biology 30 - just know that DNA polymerase adds nucleotides, removes the RNA primer and proofreads.

Keep in mind the action of DNA polymerase and try to visualize where it is involved in this process. Think about where primase, helicase, DNA polymerase, and DNA ligase enter this simulation.
